Polydeep, deep learning for diagnosis of colorectal polyps

The Research Group SING (Sistemas Informáticos de Nueva Generación), coordinated by Professor Florentino Fernández, that belongs to CINBIO; and the Digestive Oncology Research Group (Giodo, of CHUO, Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Ourense, IIS Galicia Sur)  coordinated by Dr. Joaquín Cubiella, develop the project:

POLYDEEP: sistema inteligente de detección y clasificación en tiempo real de lesiones colorrectales mediante “deep learning“, funded by MINECO, DPI2017-87494-R.

This project , “pioneer and innovative in the field of oncologic endoscopy”, will be developed along three years, and its ultimate aim is to improve the quality of care for oncology patients. “We foresee to avoid unnecessary surgery thanks to the use of artificial intelligence; and allowing the early diagnosis of colorectal cancer, detecting polyps that currently go unnoticed due to their small size.”
