VIII Award Biogen IDEC Foundation Young Researchers


The call is directed to Spanish researchers who obtained their doctorate in 2006 or later, and who have published a scientific paper (or it has been accepted) in the areas of Immunology and Neurology, in international refereed journals after June 30 , 2011 and before June 30, 2013.

The aim of this competition is to reward the best basic research developed by young scientists in or outside Spain in the areas of Immunology and Neurology. Two prizes of € 18,000 euros each will be awarded, one for each area indicated.

2nd Scientific BIOCAPS Seminar 2013


The Biomedical Research Institute of Vigo (IBIV) organizes under the BIOCAPS project framework, the “2nd Scientific BIOCAPS Seminar 2013”. The objective of this activity is to present new clinical perspectives on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) as well as new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of disease. It also aims to deepen the understanding of specific aspects of SLE such as the large multicenter cohort, the early atherosclerosis in patients with SLE, the use of new biological therapies or potential usefulness of precise therapeutic targets to treat disease.

The seminar will take place on October 4, 2013, in the Auditorium of the Hospital Meixoeiro, the official language is English. The programme of the workshop can be downloaded from the following link

1st Nanomedicine Award


On benhalf of ETPN, please find below information concerning NanoMed Award (entries for nomination open until September 7th).

The goal of the award, open to companies, academic and private researchers, is to promote excellent new projects in nanomedicine and the winning projects should be diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that address unmet medical needs shared by many and are not feasible without nanotechnology.

The Award Ceremony and presentation of the winning projects will take place during the Nanomedicine panel discussion at BioEurope 2013 in Vienna from 4 to 6 November 2013, and would hence be a major opportunity to extend nanomedicine awareness to the biotech and pharmaceutical communities for new development opportunities.

The prizes include full ticket to BioEurope 2013, presentations during the largest nanomedicine summit CLINAM 2014, one year free membership at ETPN, and free consultation action by ETPN translational experts.

Convocatoria Premios MEDES-MEDicina en ESpañol 2013


Within the objectives related with the training and dissemination of the biomedical Knowledge, the Lilly Foundation announces  the awards MEDES-MEDicina en ESpañol 2013.

The MEDES initiative aims to promote scientific publication in biomedical journals in Spanish, and to foster their dissemination through various national and international research, education and outreach.

The MEDES Award aim to recognize those initiatives that generate quality knowledge and communicate using the Spanish language as well as institutions that promote its dissemination among the Spanish speaking population.

The European Science Foundation Call for Conference Proposals – Molecular Biology +


The European Science Foundation invites researchers to submit proposals for high-level research conferences to take place in 2015 within the framework of its Research Conferences Scheme in the following scientific domain:

  • Molecular Biology+

In the framework of their partnership, ESF and EMBO jointly fund multidisciplinary conferences to promote links between molecular biologists and other scientists in Europe, giving them an opportunity to discuss common themes and exchange cross-disciplinary results.

Successful proposals will be organised within the framework of the ESF Research Conferences Scheme and will be awarded a conference grant of up to EUR 30.000.

Grants by the SEI to participate at the International Congress of Immunology 2013, Milan (Italy)


The Spanish Society of Immunology (SEI) aims to promote the participation of young immunologists Spanish (residents, pre- and post-doctoral students under 35 years-old) at the 15th International Congress of Immunology (ICI2013). The event will be held in Milan in August 22 to 27, 2013. The SEI offers grants for the amount of € 300 to cover the full price of the registration. This aims to help those young researchers who have not obtained any of the grants that have just been awarded by the ICI or by the EFIS (European Federation of Immunological Societies) or other entities promoting grants.


– Being a member of the SEI at least from the previous year (2012) to the realization of the conference, and be pre- or post-doctoral less than 35 years.

– Submit a letter as first author to the 15th ICI´s congress.

– Have applied for the travel grant to either the ICI or the EFIS.

The enjoyment of these grants are incompatible with other travel grants awarded for this conference.
