Structure and organisation
The organisational structure is composed of a steering commission at the University of Vigo, a board of directors, an executive and scientific committee at CINBIO, as well as an external advisory board.
The steering commission governs the institution, coordinates the activity, and supervises the operations at the University of Vigo.

Manuel Joaquín ReigosaChancellor of the University of Vigo
A graduate in Biology and Philosophy from the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he also obtained his doctoral degree in Biology, Dr Reigosa has been teaching at the University of Vigo since its creation in 1990, and has participated actively in its governmental bodies as secretary to the Vigo University College, director of the research and development office, adjunct to the vice-chancellor of research, dean of the old Faculty of Sciences in Vigo, head of the Department of Plant Biology and Soil Sciences, as well as vice-chancellor of research.
Dr Reigosa was coordinator of the master’s degree in Earth Ecosystems and president of the academic commission of a doctoral programme with an honourable mention in excellence. He has published more than 100 academic papers and has been editor of five books. Currently, he is head editor of two JCR journals and acts as associate editor in three others.

José María MartínVice-Chancellor of Economy
Tenured lecturer at the University of Vigo since 2000 and head of the Department of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis, History and Economic Institutions. He worked as secretary to the same department and as academic secretary to the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Science. Throughout his professional career, Dr Martín has taken part in project management activities, institutional relations and team leadership.
In addition, he was director of the Galician Foundation for the Knowledge Society, of competitive surveillance of the Galician Granite Cluster and acted as counsellor for the Granite Technology Centre. Dr Martín worked as research assistant at the Galician Institute of Economic Development (IGAPE), the General Secretariat of Analysis and Forecasting of the Galician autonomic government, and SACE consultants. He currently holds the position of Vice-Chancellor of Economy at the University of Vigo.
Board of directors
The board of directors is composed of representatives of each of the four research areas at CINBIO, with the purpose of streamlining management.
Scientific Committee at the centre
The scientific committee at CINBIO is composed of the coordinators of the research groups affiliated with the centre. Its goal is to control and supervise its mission and strategy.
