Resumo:
Tumors exhibit genetic diversity, known as intratumor heterogeneity, which can be studied through multi-sample analyses across different regions or time points. This thesis addresses key challenges in analyzing multi-sample tumor data and leverages this approach to explore cancer evolution. It focuses on optimizing methods for detecting somatic mutations, developing tools to infer clonal subpopulations, characterizing the genetic diversity and evolutionary history of colorectal tumors, exploring the genetic basis of cancer relapse, and assessing how heterogeneity influences drug response and treatment strategies.
