O martes 19 de marzo de 2024 o Dr. Waldemar Macedo (Centro de Desenvolvimento da Tecnologia Nuclear – CDTN; Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear – CNEN. Belo Horizonte, MG, Brasil) ofrecerá o seminario Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at CDTN/CNEN, dentro do ciclo "CINBIO Seminar Programme".
Será ás 11:00h na Sala de Seminarios da Torre CACTI.
ABSTRACT:
In the talk, I will present an overview of the current activities on nanoscience and nanotechnology at CDTN, involving mainly nanostructures for bioapplication, graphene-based materials, and magnetic nanostructures. The systems for bioapplications include nanoplatforms based on mesoporous sílica (SBA-15, MCM-41), hydroxyapatite, boron nitrate, graphene, gold, and iron oxides and ferrites for drug delivery, theranostics, hyperthermia and sensors. Emphasis will be given on the application of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in the characterization of the surface chemistry and functionalization steps in different nanosystems, and on the application of Mössbauer spectroscopy in the characterization of Fe-based nanoparticles and composites. The investigation of structure-magnetism correlations and proximity effects in Fe-based layered magnetic nanostructures for spintronics will be also briefly illustrated.
