O venres 9 de febreiro de 2024 teremos a oportunidade de coñecer o traballo de Sarah Jasmin Klausen (Department of Biotechnology, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, Norway), que impartirá a charla “Spent mushroom substrate – a world of unexplored potential within biorefinery and biomedical applications” dentro do ciclo “CINBIO Seminar Programme”.
Será ás 12:00h na Sala de Seminarios da Torre CACTI.
ABSTRACT:
Spent mushroom substrate is a waste material that has gained increased interest within academia and biorefinery industry over the last decade. Its complex composition provides multiple challenges in processing but also new advantages as a cheap and available biomaterial. Spent mushroom substrate has the potential to provide multiple important building blocks for biomedical applications, including bioactive compounds for use in drugs and medicine, biofuel and platform chemicals for different production platforms, and high-quality lignin for the synthesis of enhanced biomaterials suitable for drug and gene delivery, biosensors and tissue engineering.
This lecture will give an insight into uses of spent mushroom substrate, suitable applications of biorefinery processes for this material, and address challenges and advantages with the use of spent mushroom substrates.
