O SEMINARIO DE ITAMAR WILLNER FOI FINALMENTE CANCELADO.

O investigador impartirá a masterclass "Stimuli-Responsive Nucleic Acid-Functionalized Nano-Carriers and Materials for Biomedical Applications" dentro do ciclo "CINBIO Seminar Programme."
“Smart” stimuli-responsive nucleic acid-modified drug-loaded nanoparticles or microcapsules for therapeutic applications will be introduced. These include metal-organic framework nanoparticles or hydrogel microcapsules being unlocked by cellular biomarkers, such as ATP, VEGF, miRNAs or by thermoplasmonic Au nanoparticles/nanorods. Targeted and enhanced permeation of the carriers into cancer cells by functionalization of the carriers with targeting aptamers and DNA tetrahedra nanostructures will be discussed. Chemotherapeutic and photodynamic therapeutic treatment of cancer cells will be presented. In addition, metal-ion (Ce4+)-modified carbon dots or Au-nanoparticles functionalized with cell-specific aptamers act as catalytic particles mimicking peroxidase/oxidase activities (aptananozymens) generating ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) agents. The particles are used as effective catalysts for chemodynamic treatment of cancer cells. Finally, the immunotherapeutic treatment of cancer cells by functional biomarker-responsive microcapsules activating the COVID-19 immune system will be presented as a versatile immunotherapy platform.
