Objectives

  • Postdoctoral Programme that will award 5 postdoctoral positions of 24 months each in two calls (freely defined projects involving the two different CINBIO core areas).
  • Unique springboard to prepare postdoctoral fellows for a successful career in the European academic and private sectors aiming at decision-making positions.
  • Boost the interdisciplinary research at CINBIO, catalysing institutional capacitybuilding and cement strategic collaboration across sectors even further.
  • Programme imbued with the guidelines of the HRS4R (offering research freedom, equal opportunities, local career-supporting structures, a well-connected regional ecosystem of R&I actors, and high-quality working conditions).

Benefits

  • 2 years full-time contract (37,5h/week).

  • Highly competitive salary 3.980€/month (gross).

  • Additional budget of €800/month for research costs and €120/month for travel

  • Mandatory withholdings and taxes in Spain include access to public health system, unemployment insurance and retirement pension contribution.

Economic conditions

Cofund allowance: 3.980€/month as gross salary (expected base salary deducting social security contributions 3.013€).

According to Spanish legislation the final monthly salary will be obtained subtracting mandatory withholdings which include Social Security Contributions (typically 6,47% of the gross salary) and income tax (IRPF which is progressive and varies based on personal circumstances such as marital status, number of dependents and income level). In addition to the salary, fellows will have a dedicated budget of 19.200€ for their own research and 2.880€ for travel (conferences, secondments, and short visits).

Training through research

Day-to-day research training and supervision aligned with candidates own projects and their Personal Career Development Plan (PCDP) with a tarilored career develpment strategy

Training on scientific/research skills:

  • CINBIO has a detailed training programme with regular scientific courses, offering annually a wide range of training activities, conferences, seminars, schools and workshops within their research lines and related domains. See CINBIO website.
  • Regular technical training: Biosecurity (pathogens) – working in laboratory of high biosecurity level; Animal manipulation – Practices with animal models in the bio-experimentation service; Cytometry.

Network wide trainig events

  • NANO4TALENT Researcher’s Day: 1-day welcome meeting for the new Postdoctoral fellows of the Programme, to be held within the first two months of the fellowship. The event will be held once for each cohort
  • NANO4TALENT Workshops: The PMO will organize two workshops of 2-3 days, one during the first year of the fellowship, and the other on the second. These will be open to other researchers at CINBIO.
  • NANO4TALENT Final Seminar: Integrated into CINBIO’s Annual Meeting (cf. Other Events below), where fellows will be able to present their project’s results.

  • International congresses will be organized by CINBIO in the coming years, which are also an excellent opportunity for international networking

Supervision

Each postdoctoral fellow will be supported by a team of established, highly experienced personnel, a minimum of two meetings per year between the fellow and mentor will be recommended.

Main supervisor: PCDP definition and monitoring, guidance, research introduction and supervision, fellow’s overall wellbeing and career development.

Co-supervisor: from a different discipline or area. Enabling diversification of supervision angles and multidisciplinary approaches to the research.

Mentor from CINBIO/UVigo or associated partner, who will provide a different angle to the fellow’s career perspective.
